During a quarterstaff training exercise in which the defender was meant to disarm the attacker; [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] was legitimately attacked by [[Malthos]]. [[Malthos]] bashed his previously broken right ankle with a forehand strike from the quarterstaff, followed by a backhand strike to his left clavicle snapping it in two. [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] passed out from the injury and woke up with a broken nose from hitting the concrete. [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]], when you woke up, you saw [[Hammoda Jadebelly]]'s body lying in front of you. Part of her face deformed from a viciously placed quarterstaff strike to the temple. As you come to, you hear [[Malthos]] say "If I'd hit her in the *Hambelly* maybe she wouldn't have dropped like a pig" laughing with his friends as they walk away from the training grounds. [[Malthos]] isn't punished because he detected that [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] wasn't prepared for a real strike. You know this is the punishment for trying to run away. You remember her getting a reputation for being a coward, but also for being tough; most kids don't survive that punishment. She explains that he's not exactly a politically important man in the same way that a [[King]] or [[Queen]] is, but his name can be found in history books throughout the ages and that his magic is unlike any other she has read of. She explains that he once ran an adventuring guild, before [[Ghelia]] was attacked in **4936**. She says something happened and he disappeared, rumors say he's been in prison until now. At the very least, nobody she knows of has seen or talked to him in her lifetime. You and your sister are referred to as the *Breckinbrats*, particularly by [[Malthos]] and his bunk. Your bunk now consists of: - [[Sonni Breckinsworth|Sonni Vakrihk]] - [[Hydra-Roki]] - [[Sumur Goldlash]] One afternoon, after morning training, the entire camp is called to assemble around the statue of [[Moon-Valemon]]. As you were approaching, you remember hearing whispers of things looking different than normal. You didn't see them at the time, but you remember hearing whispers of the leaders of the camp being in uniforms, they all looked virtually the same to one another. You began to see guards walking around, they wore simple black leather armor with the [[Dungannon Coat of Arms]] emblazoned on various areas. At all of their sides hung scimitars along with their normal personal weaponry. You later learned how to distinguish their ranks from the armor they wore and the pommels of their swords. It was announced that [[Warrior Lord]] [[Moon-Valemon]] was creating another [[Dungannon Military Clans|Clan]], the [[Cambion Clan]]. This announcement was met with excitement, especially from those you know were trying to graduate into the [[Valemon Clan]]. You heard various whispers, "Another clan, already?", "What is this one about?", "Sounds cool", "The fuck's a cambion?" [[Rolus]] went on to explain that there were also to be some rule changes in camp as ordered by [[Warrior Lord]] [[Moon-Valemon]]. You can join the [[Cambion Clan]] at any time, leaving your training responsibilities in camp. From here on, if you fail out of the [[Dungannon Military Graduation]], you become a [[Cambion Clan|Cambion]]. The [[Dungannon Recruits|guards]] weren't allowed to beat kids anymore, only [[Dungannon Justicar]]s were allowed to administer punishment *This was met with cheering, applause, and surprise* [[Rolus]] continued, killing wasn't allowed in the camp anymore. A riot broke out after the announcement by [[Rolus]], you remember it becoming immediately chaotic, a general brawl and mayhem broke out that lasted for a few minutes. It was difficult to leave the courtyard with how packed it was, some of the guards had been disarmed by some of the children who had begun killing. This was all scattered by one moment that sticks out to you the most, [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]]. You remember being pushed to the ground by [[Malthos]] who now held a scimitar from one of the [[Dungannon Recruits]]. You landed on a person, looking down you saw that you landed on the now dead [[Rolus]], who had just minutes before been speaking to you all. [[Malthos]] stood over top of you, scimitar in one hand, his other hand pushing your head into the ground. Between people's legs you saw [[Hydra-Roki]], with a [[Scimitar]] held to her throat by one of [[Malthos]]' bunkmates. As clear as day, cutting through the rest of the noise as if there was nothing else you heard your sister's voice as she screamed "**Get your hands off of her**" The air around you became electric, you remember seeing everyone begin to turn to look, hearing the voice the same as you, it felt as if time slowed to a crawl, you remember seeing the energy start from her mouth... It crackled at her lips as she formed the words, grayish-purple lightning ready to be released. Smoke coming from her lungs as she spoke. You saw a small beam of energy come out in a blast, concentrated, tiny, going through Roki's attacker and over your head, scaring [[Malthos]] off. With that already, you saw [[Hydra-Roki]] and her attacker collapse to the ground, her attacker missing a head and most of their upper chest cavity. Then, as if the flood gates had been breached, with a blink you were looking at the sky, eardrums ruptured. Around you, people had begun to scatter, to your right you saw the administrative building, with a massive hole blown straight through to the other side, to freedom. To your left, you saw people fleeing to their dorms. No matter how hard you looked, you couldn't find your sister, you needed to get up and move. > [!success] Which way did you go? ###### Stay If he stays, his sister is not in her bunk that night... The following few weeks a lot of changes started to occur, but throughout them all, she's nowhere to be seen. Repairs are made to the main building, and a few new buildings are erected in the main courtyard around the statue of [[Moon-Valemon]] which needed to be repaired after the riot. These buildings have [[Dungannon Military Clans]] crests above the door. People in various colored robes begin coming and going from the camp, you begin being able to associate the colors to the different clans. You know that one day you'll graduate into one of these clans. One day, you see [[Sonni Breckinsworth|Sonni]] from across the courtyard, she's wearing a dark-green robe with light-green accents that goes down to a few inches above a pair of nice new boots. She's holding a stack of books and seems to be rushing from the administrative building to the [[Owl Clan]] house. > [!success] What do you do? --- #### 4990 ##### [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] Returns [[Alyxandor Breckinsworth|Alyx]] overhears his mother and father arguing, hears his mother say she doesn't want [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] to go through the [[Dungannon Military Graduation]]. [[Alyxandor Breckinsworth|Alyx]] hears the [[Dungannon Flagbearers|Flagbearer]] warn her that [[Dungannon]] may react poorly, mentions the [[Topuk Accord]]. She says "I don't give a damn about the [[Topuk Accord]] and I don't give a damn about the [[Dungannon Military Clans]]. If one of those savages kills my baby I'll start the war myself. Now are you going to support this or stand in my way?" [[Alyxandor Breckinsworth|Alyx]] hears his father sigh, and move to go to another room, his study. The following morning, [[Sun-Vaos Vakrihk]] and the [[Sun Clan]] marched for [[Dungannon]]. Three weeks later, they returned with [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] in tow. --- #### 4996 [[Queen]] [[Merah Breckinsworth]] calls you to her official study in the [[Elm Tower]] to discuss the trip you're going on. She states very bluntly, "[[Alyxandor Breckinsworth|Alyx]] you are heir to the throne, and" *with a heavy sigh*, "[[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] you have lived an already too painful existence." *She continues* "For me to treat you like children would be a waste of all of our time" She pulls out a thick emerald green envelope wrapped in golden twine with a wax seal of the [[Ebbin Coat of Arms]] sealing it shut. She says, I need this to go directly to someone, and I need this to be done by someone I trust implicitly. You two have been cooped up here for a while, which, [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] I'm sure was a very nice, and much needed respite considering what I can only imagine your past has entailed. However, I can imagine you've grown tired of that at this point, and I notice that [[Alyxandor Breckinsworth|Alyx]], you prefer to practice your magic in isolation. That's absolutely within your rights, of course, I am simply saying that I think we can help each other here. [[Augustus Breckinsworth|Augustus]] I trust that it's well within your ability to serve as personal protection for your older brother, if you'd be willing to accompany him on this journey, assuming he is willing himself. She informs them that she has hired a local captain from [[Mirkhaven]] that will be taking the courier to [[Vitunia]]. If they would be willing, she would be glad for them to be the ones to deliver this package for her. She apologizes that she took the initiative of hiring the ship for them already, but explains that it can take quite some time to arrange naval passage and she didn't know if they'd be interested in going.
